Where the Hell are you going? And why did you go there?

How appropriate that I started this blog three years ago and I'm just now finishing it up.

I do that with my blogs. I wait for inspiration to strike even if it takes three years...

I have to talk about something. Right now, November 9, 2015, I am in a rush! I am SO anxious to get back home that I am risking falling into the most dangerous habit of all. Routine. It's routine that kills hopes. It's routine that kills dreams. It's routine that kills us.

Moving/running fast will not make the earth spin any faster. In fact, it may make the world seem like it's moving slower. I know many people may assume they can force the effect of time flying by when you get busy by faking busy. Unfortunately, busy doesn't work that way. If you are busy with no business, time will drag.

I'm starting to realize this constant state of being in a rush may be common. Is it outside forces or some other anxiety that makes people move so fast with no direction. So fast, indeed, that we have just become larger versions of those children we would see acting out. I've see a lot of grown up Cartmans. And how do you tell an adult aged person they need to grow up? They have children. They pay bills, mostly on time. Or as Maya Angelou said, “Most people don't grow up. Most people age. They find parking spaces, honor their credit cards, get married, have children, and call that maturity. What that is, is aging.” And that's what most people believe growing up is about.

So, we've become a country of men and women barreling towards mid-life crises. Men and women
are making it to 40 and 50 having done a bunch of stuff without any idea about why they did all that stuff. So much so, there is a $12 billion dollar industry devoted to finding out who the hell we are, where they hell we are going, and, maybe, why we've doing all this stuff. Unfortunately, by 40-50, we've created more ungrown ups, perpetuating the cycle of adults spiraling down the road to mid-life crisis.

When we are 18 to 25, we are excited. Concrete plans or not, we know we know everything and we know how to make all our hopes and dreams come true. So we do it. We try.We fail. We try again. We try some more. We keep shooting for the moon. And then, one day, we have to get a real job.
For the majority of the week, we are working for someone. We travel to work. We move around for a respectable amount of hours. Then we travel home. Sometimes we're tired. Sometimes we're stressed. Sometimes we bring some work home. We repeat that a few times. Then the weekend is here. We get with our friends and talk about pretending to do stuff. We discuss our great/wack/zany/weird/wacky/creepy bosses/coworkers. We compare notes. Apparently, all office bathrooms look the same. And all of a sudden the weekend is over and we forgot to go to sleep, we were having so much fun with our friends. Now we have to do this work thing again, only tired. And we are officially looking forward to the next weekend.

Before we know it, this is the cycle. We live for the weekend. Eventually, vacations come. More stuff comes. We get more money we buy more stuff. We do more stuff. Coffee/caffeine/tea/meditation is introduced at some point. We start fitting things in on the weekends, the weekends get shorter, the work weeks seem longer but they start to fly by... One day, to you get an instant message from some douche bag you haven't spoken to since High School asking you to come to the 30 year reunion and write a book report about all the stuff you been doing.

At first, we still have our hopes and dreams. Two or three came true but a thousand more are unfulfilled.Things seem to get easier. You're now officially 'humming along.' You don't even notice you are actually humming. There's a noise about you now. That noise is the sound of being busy. Now we are officially adults. We are like everyone else. We are busy.

Doing what?

Nothing.

We've started doing stuff because that's what adults do. Stuff. Buy stuff. Sell stuff. Cook stuff. Drink stuff. Eat stuff. Give stuff away. Have stuff. Hold stuff. Drive stuff. Play stuff. Love stuff. Hate stuff. See stuff. Hear stuff. Believe stuff. Praise stuff. Talk stuff... We're doing it! Sometimes we like the stuff. Sometimes we don't. But we're doing it. and we seem to be doing more and more stuff faster and faster.

We didn't notice the change. Now we are in a rushing. We are rushing everywhere.

I live in LA with some of the most laid back, 'content' people in the country. Put them behind the wheel of a car, they are speeding! Except from 4 pm to 8 pm, they are idling along cursing (sometimes under their breath...) about not being able to speed.  They forgot all the money they spent on the car and the sounds and the GPS and the TVs and Howard Stern on XM that they can't watch/listen to because they're in a rush, speeding.

I lived in New Orleans, the Big Easy. Until they want a drink. Hollering and screaming. Ordering five at a time, for themselves (maybe that was only me...). Paying/tipping extra to be first. Because they only have all night to get drunk. It's a holiday. (It's always a holiday in New Orleans) But they forgot they went out to unwind and ended up wound up over a drink...

All over the country, we have to park in front and be in the front of the line, get it first, see it first. We want our ticket to say #1. We have to see the movie/Netflix ASAP because some asshole is going to spoil it. We don't read the articles because the headline tells us the story. We don't read the instructions because we can figure it out (yeah right!). We're always running late because 'the hasty man always works twice' and we don't have time to figure out what that means because we're late and if we move fast enough like superman we can reverse time...
We can't.
We're stuck in the routine. It rarely changes. Our hopes and dreams are deferred. It's just the cycle. Over and over. And over and over. And we keep speeding through it because maybe we can squeeze a minute of life and Love and real living into it, one day...

And then we die.

If this is you and your life, stop. Give me five minutes. I know I wrote a lot and made you read.
A lot...
Take five minutes. For yourself. Be silent. Sit still. (THATS going to be SO hard) Try to do nothing.
(Except breath. You ain't suing my ass for your ass being a dumb ass...)

At the end of five minutes of nothing, ask yourself - Where the hell am I going?

Schedule another five minutes for tomorrow (or in two years because I know you're busy. with stuff...) and focus on the answer to that.

Seriously start with five minutes a day. Make sure you're rushing in the right direction. Review your mission. If you haven't, write your mission. Write out a trust. Write out a will.

Figure out where the Hell you are going or you are ONLY going to die and nothing else.

Try something new.
Live!

What I Learned In Church 12/11/11

What I Learned In Church 12/11/11

Let me start by thanking God for forgiving me for making my obstacles bigger than Him. Thank God for Your undying Love.
This past Sunday I was at Triangular. I grew up there, as well as in other churches. I am just now though learning and understanding the philosophy of this particular church, just as I am coming into a fuller understanding of the Love of Jesus.
Before we begin, let me share a few thoughts and announcements:

  • Another day older but more so infinitely more mature.
  • The Question of the Day was designed to show how we sometimes make man into idols and put men before God. I forgot, though, to ban preacher men from answering the question. (Thanks George!)
  • Have you tried Jesus? Seriously!
We have truly tried everything. All that IS left is choosing Jesus.
That doesn't mean voting for a Crazy conservative next November. That means choosing Love now and letting that light shine everyday until November and beyond. This country and this world need and deserve your Love now and forever. Start with your self and watch it spread through your family to the world. Keep building. Keep growing. Never, not for one second, stop Loving. Choose Jesus from now on!
  • We are Love so look for US everywhere.
  • Keep on being a bright light; don't be a dim light.

And now the Word:
So, by his own words, Eddie Long's church is in jeopardy. Where Is The Healing? The healing is going on now. The people are leaving because they are supposed to. Revenues are down because they are supposed to be down. Eddie Long ("My church is in jeopardy") It is. But not The Church. Brick and mortar is in jeopardy all over because we've been choosing buildings and not God. God is clearing out the rift raft so we can choose Him and not idols.

Healing is taking away obstructions between you and God. Obstructions are not just obvious sins like adultery or homosexuality or lying. Obstructions are making yourself, your life, your church and your problems bigger than the Real Church.

God is working with New Birth. In Matthew Chapter 9 Jesus first forgave the palsied man his sins so he could be healed. Then he told the man to rise and take his bed and go home. I’m sure Eddie Long asked for and was given forgiveness long ago. He and New Birth are still being healed. This is a specific process.
Healing is a process specifically for the individual. If you have someone to forgive, there is a healing process just for you. Remember the 7/70 plan (Matthew 18:20-22 - forgive him seven times seventy) It's not about being able to feel good It's about being able to do better. To Love better!
Attacking Eddie Long won't fix the problem. And forgiveness is not giving him a pass. Forgiveness is seeking and waiting till we find healing for Eddie Long and the church AND his accusers. The Church WILL get better. That may or may not
Include New Birth but The Church will be better.
"Pick[ing] up your bed" is taking dominion over your life. That bed was that mans life. Control that which has been controlling you. If it’s drugs, sex, lying, eating, did I say sex? Don’t play with it or let it play with you. No matter what it is, remember the Bible has a happy ending. Seek forgiveness and allow God to heal you. It’s a process. Go through it. God wins in the end. Despite how it looks now, God is working towards the best. Get on His team.
It’s funny. As soon as I heard Reverend Greg say Eddie Long. I said to myself – Awwwww man! More of that bull! But God uses everyone to shine his light. As we look to New Birth and pray for healing for that church, we should see God working in our lives to heal us as well. We should remember to remain patient and long suffering as we go through all that we must to be healed.

We’ll end with a special prayer for my Brother's Brother. Thank God for his healing hands.

Letter to Jay-Z, Willie Lynch , Daddy and Everyone Else Who Ruined My Life

Letter to Jay-Z, Willie Lynch (click for the original letter), Daddy and Everyone Else Who Ruined My Life

This is a shout out to the assholes, a toast to the douche bags, and cheers to all the scum buckets.
You are no longer powerful in my life. In fact you are no longer a part of my life at all. You are on your own kiddos. For your sake I hope you can live on your own, you parasitic leeches. I am assuming full responsibility for my life from now on. I have established my independence from your our relationship.
I must admit I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to live with you as a crutch. Just imagining being responsible for my own actions without anyone else to blame seemed inconceivable. Then one day I tried it.
It was wonderful.
It was everything everyone always tried to tell me and so much more. More! This is living! Real living. The truth. The gospel according to Rhonda Byrne.
I’m free. I’m above all the hating and haters. And because of that, I have absolutely no need for scapegoats. There is no one to blame for my life but me.

So this is the break up letter to Jay-Z, Willie Lynch, Daddy, The Police, Some Snitches and everyone else who ruined my life up until now:

It’s not your fault. It was no one’s fault. I take full responsibility for where I am in my life. That means the past does not matter anymore. The only thing that matters is what I do from now on.
That means I forgive you all. I forgive you Jay-Z for killing Tupac and Biggie and/or taking over their spots at the top of the rap game. You almost ruined my life by doing so. I do enjoy your flows but every once in a while I miss Tupac. And someone must be responsible for that void in my life.
Then you went and joined the illuminati. (What ever that is) I saw some pot-head on YouTube explaining how you were in a secret society and that meant it wasn’t the fact that I kept showing up to interviews two-hours late and drunk that was to blame for my lack of a job. It was you and the illuminati. Unfortunately, there wasn’t an illuminati box on my welfare application so I was denied. That was your fault too.
I forgive you Willie Lynch, whoever you are. Until I heard about you, I thought my cousins kept stealing from me and lying about it because they were just bad people. But no, it was you, Willie. You made them do it. And when I turned my back on all my family it wasn’t either of our faults, it was you, Willie. I was just about to thank you for clearing all that up but after we reconciled and I explained and showed them all your letter, my family got into a huge slapping melee. Slap, slap, slap…  My head still hurts at random times behind that.
I forgive Daddy for hooking up with my mom. She is kinda fine, so I understand why you had to hit that. And then, I know she’s hard to deal with. So hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. And I get it. You hardly ever have any money now (because of Jay-Z and Willie Lynch) so I know there was no way to expect you to buy rubbers back then. So here I am. And here you are, so broke you can’t even afford to spend time with me. No worries! I’ll just get my drink on and do some gang bangin’ cuz.
I also forgive you, The Police, for your constant harassment of me. You got all these rules like you’re concerned for my welfare or something. Always trying to look for my weed. I forgive you for taking me to jail instead of listening to my sob stories. Even though I knew I was telling you an original lie, you showed me I was only lying to myself. I forgive you for that too. I wasn’t ready for no dramatic self-realization.

Since I forgive you all, you are no longer as necessary in my life. I will go one listening to your music like you were any other musician. You no longer have the power to brainwash me and make me act real niggerish when I find myself in Paris. I will no longer be a slave to capitalism. I will no longer allow myself to use and be used by my own family. I am no longer lost and empty, trying to fill the voids in my life with liquor and fake relationships. I love you all. I may even start obeying the law now that I see those rules weren’t made just to pick on me.

So, in the spirit of appreciation and not that of regret, thank you. It was nice knowing you all. If we are in each other’s lives beyond this point, our relationships will be entirely different. No more blame games. You will merely be a talented rapper/businessman, a desperate example of the worst of the free market, a loving family member, my community protector and just some guys who talk too much and you will either be in my life or not and it won’t change me one bit.
I love you all but you are no longer in charge of my life. I don’t have that much time for you anymore. I will from now on be too busy living. Period.

Goodbye. Good luck with ALL your bullshit.

FYI – I do believe Jay-Z is a good rapper/businessman. I have a good relationship with my father; he is in fact one of my best friends.
On amore serious note, it is my duty to inform all that while your life may have some huge problems, there is no one to blame but yourself. And I wouldn’t even suggest giving your self a hard time about it. I write an adult blog and I expect to be talking to only adults. So I can say, as adults, we are all responsible for ourselves. One of the main parts of being responsible means living without excuses.
There is so much I can say about excuses. In short, living without excuses means we will not be conspiracy theorists anymore. I don’t believe in coincidence. But that doesn’t mean correlation or causation. There was no Willie Lynch and even if there was, his life has nothing to do with your current laziness. You’re just lazy. No one forced any of my family members to be assholes, they just are.
The police and snitches get paid to find, catch and tell on people when they are doing wrong. You are doing wrong. If you chose to stop doing wrong, the police would be no more than direction givers and traffic directors. But you choose to do wrong so your life reflects that choice and ALL that comes with it. Your absentee parent is not a ninja who sneak s into your bedroom and steals all your rubbers, forcing you to become a naked-dicker. You just are.
You chose this life so far and you are free to choose otherwise as soon as you let other people stop driving.

Take control of your life and stop blaming others. I believe in a mighty God. He is so much bigger than racism, sexism, capitalism, haterism, Hovism, tattle-tale-ism or any other –ism you can come up with.
For every excuse/conspiracy you can come up with, I have one answer. Choice. You can choose God or the bullshit. Take your pick.

The Ragpicker's Prayer

The Ragpicker’s Prayer
By
Og Mandino

For the rest of my life there are two days that will never trouble me again.
The first day is yesterday with all its blunders and tears, its follies and defeats. Yesterday has passed forever beyond my control.
The other day is tomorrow with all its danger and mystery, its pitfalls and threats. Until the sun rises again, I have no stake in tomorrow for it is still unborn.

With God’s help and only one day to focus all my effort and energy on, this day, I can win! Only when I focus on those two frightening eternities, yesterday and tomorrow, am I in danger of faltering under the load. Never again! This is my day. This is my only day. Today is all there is. Today is the rest of my life and I resolve to conduct myself through every waking hour in the following manner.

For the rest of my life this very special day God help me…
…to heed the wise advice of Jesus and Confucius and Zoroaster and treat all those I encounter, friend or foe, stranger or family, as I would want them to treat me.
… to maintain a reign on my tongue and my temper guarding against foolish moments of fault finding and insults.
… to greet all those I encounter with a smile instead of a frown, a soft word of encouragement instead disdain or even worse, silence.
… to remain sympathetic and attentive to the sorrows and struggles of others realizing there are hidden woes in every life no matter how exalted or lowly.
… to make haste to be kind to all others realizing life is too short to be vengeful or malicious, too soon ended to be petty or unkind.

For the rest of my life this very special day God help me…
…to remember that in order to harvest more ears of corn in the fall I must plant more kernels in the spring.
… to keep reminding myself that life always rewards me on terms that I establish and if I never perform or deliver more than that for which I am paid never will I have cause to demand or expect any additional gold.
… to always deliver more than is expected of me whether at work, at home, or at play.
… to labor with enthusiasm and love no matter what the task at hand may be realizing that if I cannot secure happiness out of my work, I will never know what to true happiness is.
… to endure at my chosen work even after other have ceased their labor for now I know that the angel of happiness and the pot of gold await me only at the end of the extra mile that still lies ahead

For the rest of my life this very special day God help me…
… to set goals to be accomplished before the day has ended for now I know that to drift aimlessly from one hour to the next leaves me with only one destination the port of misery.
… to realize that no path to success is too far if I advance bravely and without undue haste just as there are no honors too distant if I prepare myself for them now with patience
… to never give up hope for a brighter tomorrow for I know that if I continue to knock long enough and loud enough at the gate, I am certain to arouse someone.
… to remind myself that success always has a price and I must balance its joys and rewards against the precious piece of my life that I must always exchange in order to achieve it.
…to hold fast to my dreams and my plans for a better life because if I relinquish them, though I may still exist, I will have ceased to live.

For the rest of my life this very special day God help me…
… to strive to fulfill the best that is within me, knowing I have no obligation to achieve great wealth or success, only the obligation to be true to the highest and best that is within me.
… to never succumb to the fear of failing for now I shall be looking up at the goals I have not yet reached rather than peering down at the pitfalls that always threaten me.
… to embrace adversity as a friend who will teach me far more about myself than any joyful run of success or good fortune.
… to remember that failures even when they occur are only guides to success since every discovery of what is false will lead me to seek after what is true and every experience teaches me some form of error that shall afterwards be carefully avoided
…to rejoice over what I have little though it may be, always recalling the oft told tale of the man who was sobbing because he had no shoes until, one day, he met a man who had no feet.

For the rest of my life this very special day God help me…
… to accept myself as I am without ever letting my conscience or sense of duty to force me to live a life’s pattern designed solely for the benefit of others.
… to realize that I must never accept the praise and love of others as a measure of my personal worth for my true value depends far more on how I feel about myself and how involved I am with the world outside.
… to resist the temptation to surpass the achievements of other since this pathetic desire is no more than a sign of insecurity and I will never be me if I allow others to set my standards.
… to ignite all my actions both at work and play with constant sparks of enthusiasm so that my excitement and zeal at whatever I am doing will subdue all difficulties that may otherwise slow my progress.
… to remember that I must pay the price in order to increase my worth for only fools stand idly by and wait for success to arrive and now I know that the only chance to start at the top is in digging a hole.

For the rest of my life on this day of days God please help me…
… to do onto others as I would have them do onto me, to give more of myself every hour than is expected, to set goals and hold fast to my dreams, to search for the good in every adversity that befalls me, to perform all my duties with enthusiasm and love and, above all, to be myself.
Please help me to achieve these goals my special friend so that I too may become a rag picker of value, laboring in your name with renewed strength and wisdom to rescue others as you have rescued me. And above all please remain close to me through all this day.

Amen

Addicted To Life

Being inside the bowels of niggardom allows me to witness firsthand many of the human weaknesses that other humans exploit. This exploitation occurs on all levels of human society. It’s easier to spot at this level of niggardom because it’s not hidden in fancy dress or excuse. Niggardom at this level is pure. Weak preying on weaker and exposing each other as the same in the process.

It always amazed me the value of cigarettes have as currency in niggardom. Granted niggers and naked-dickers are more likely to suffer from nicotine addiction. It just amazes me. Perhaps by exploiting ones’ own exploitation, the weak find power? One thing is sure. Cigarettes and coffee are the epitome of addictive behavior. Here, addictive personalities are abundant. I should be able to see a solution to addiction here. Surely it can’t be to replace one addiction with another.

You wanna stop drinking, go to AA, pick up the coffee and cigarettes. You kicking cocaine, go to rehab a couple of times, pick up the cigarettes and coffee (there’s a difference!) or dive head first into a church. Sex your problem…

…I got nothing for that one…have more…just be careful…j/k…seriously, I got nothing.

So far, addiction has been the only solution for addiction. “Too much of anything makes you an addict”

So how do we promote moderation over addiction? There is so much “else” in the world. Unfortunately, one thing or another scares the addict from life. Living is the only way to find out about everything “else” there is out there.

Defense mechanisms and escapisms become habit. Habit tells us we don’t have time for anything else. Habit is comfortable. Comfort breeds complacency. Really, is habit the true thing we are ALL addicted to? Can we let go of the concept of good and bad habits? Is our real fear change? Is it so hard to switch up every once in a while? What about trying something new here and there?

I will admit, I have had moments where bad habits have prevailed over doing something new. How better to experience something than to experience it first hand. At the time, I thought it was better to be known by my habits, good or bad, than to just be a person who lived. I always wondered why at times I felt like I was dying while nothing was wrong. It was because I wasn’t living. I hate to be so black and white but – If you aren’t living, you are dying.

Everyone knows what living is. Everyone has a “bucket list.” How many of us have missed an opportunity due to habit? How long are you going to let habit and fear kill you. I had to write this to see a solution. Addiction is death on all levels. The only foil to death is life. The answer is to live!

God’s Plan

I’ve been hearing a lot of people say, in various ways, “Let Go and Let God.” I may have even mentioned it. But how many of us are ACTUALLY doing it. How much letting go are we doing? And how much letting God is going on? Are we blaming God for doing for we really wanted to do the whole time? Or are blaming God for not facing our fears?

I spoke briefly on how hard meditation is. Let me repeat. THAT SHIT IS HARD! It makes me wonder how a person can just say – Let go and let God. It’s Lent now. We are honoring the 40 days and 40 nights Jesus went into the wilderness before beginning his ministry. Our challenge is sit still and control our thoughts for 30 minutes a day. How is that going for us?

We are so quick to call ourselves Christian. But are we? How far away is 30 minutes from 40 days? (That’s if we are even committed to that type of meditation.) But we are letting go.

Letting go is key to letting God. Maybe, if we can achieve mental silence, we can see what’s inside of us. Then we can let go of the past and look forward to the future. Maybe we can see what’s really going on around us right now. Perhaps, we’ll be able to see which decisions we’re making as a result of which emotions.

I was thinking that perhaps we aren’t being as assertive in our own lives because we don’t know what God wants. So we sit back, chill and wait. But if we don’t know how to listen (better yet!), if we don’t know what/who to listen to, how will we ever know…

What I Learned In Church: 4/4/2008

Current mood: luminous
Category: Life

Announcements:
To everyone (Friends, family, and random strippers/whores and generally loose women) I got a chance to spend time with in Los Angeles, Thank You for providing one of the best birthdays and trips home ever. It won’t be so long before the next trip this time.

As luck would have it, while I was considering the logistics of attending my old church on Sunday, my sister mentions my Step-Mother is speaking at church on Sunday. What a pleasant surprise. I do enjoy the rare occasions when she speaks on more than the announcements. She possesses a wisdom I don’t think she even knows about.

A Word:
Church, the word for today is FAITH. The responorial Psalm is:
NO THING in the universe can negate the Good God has for me. Believe that. Live that. Let that make it easier for you to be yourself.
Repeat after me - "Here I am. As I am. Giving thanks THAT I am."
If you don’t know what to be thankful for, just look around. Be grateful.
Having faith means having the faith OF God instead of faith in God. Where is our faith? Are we faithful to God? Are we even faithful to ourselves? Mark Chapter 11 Jesus told a tree to die and it died. "If anyone says to this mountain, ’Go throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his/her heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. How far away are we from THAT level of faith? That’s Dalai Lama faith. That’s the Buddha’s faith.
If you say you have apply your faith. Live like you actually believe what you believe in. Ask and you shall receive. ONCE! One time quick hit and move. Pray, believe, work and wait. The key is working and waiting. We are most impatient and lazy when it comes to our blessings.
The time never existed for "believers" who don’t do shit. And pestering God won’t ever work. Who wants to help someone who doesn’t believe in them?
Anyone can attend a church but not everyone is a member. Anyone can pray but not everyone is a believer. And you can say whatever you want but not everyone has the faith their spirituality calls for. In fact, the faithful are few.
My step-mom always says practice the three Rs.
1. Release the past
2. Renew the relationship with God
3. Recognize the God power within you
No matter how much training, learning and studying, if you aren’t applying the lessons to your everyday life, you’ve only done half the work.
Take time to pray, love, live, be yourself, appreciate life and above all, believe in ALL of it.

Although I am not Christian I can see your Step-mom's advice being applicable to all people.

Release the past
Renew a relationship with the miracle of existence
Recognize the divinity within yourself

There....same concept framed outside of religious concept.

Yup! Good advice for anyone.

I don't just write for Christians you know. The truth and the light don't only shine in one's church. They shine at McDonald's, The Strip Club, Hooters, that one topless carwash in the secret location or where ever. You just have to want to see it

Pray, believe, work and wait.....I love this blog...jus recently I have been putting those 4 words into effect in my life and the results are incredible!!! To believe that you will recieve what youv'e asked for and take the responsibility of doing the work and "patiently" waiting on the results of the latter 3 is amazing and a joy....*sometimes the wait isn't very long either* Thanks for the affirmation and confirmation.

I'm working on the THREE

What I learned in Church: Persistence and Faith

Posted Date: : Oct 22, 2007 4:19 PM
Listen to GOD

The gospel told a story of a dishonest judge and a woman who was persistent in asking for justice. Because she was persistent, the judge gave in. Jesus then asked how strong our faith was. This was not a story for people with low comprehension skills. (Don't get me started on retards again) Most people would assume this means we persist in prayer, keep asking and asking and asking. Two things pop into my head.

1. If we are always asking, when do we stop and listen? I didn't know that faith worked that way. Some people ridicule Catholics or Moslems for using the same prayers over and over or for praying over and over so ritualistically and then turn around and repeatedly request the same thing to God every night. I guess because they change their drawers more often than an Arab there's a difference.
If occurs to me that if you believe, you shall receive. So why you keep askin?

Which brings me to:

2. Are we now treating God like a dishonest judge? Does he need constant reminding that you still have not hit the Lotto? I mean the whole block, your barber and Jesus knows your numbers are 5-4-7. When do we stop needing and start believing? When are we going to stop over clicking that mouse? You only need to click that link one time and you hit the button six just to read my blog. The computer will freeze up, GOD won't. And HE knows and HE won't forget.  In fact, he may have sent you a reply. Stop typing and check your inbox. Don't be scared to open that email that looks unfamiliar, they're not all chains.

Remember, it's US who need the reminding, not the other way around. It's us who need help learning the word from time to time. For the first time in a while (and only the second time ever) I feel like my church community is somewhere I can go and know the people there have my back. And I don't even know anyone at my church! THAT, my friends, is what church is.
If you happen to be attending a church where that is not the case… In fact, if you know the people at your church and still don't trust them, why are you still there? RUN! You are in hell and you don't know it. Use your Jesus slap and get out of there!

In the name of Jesus…

And quit pesterin God for new shoes! He's busy fighting a war for Christ's Sake!

DANG!

Thank ya Jaysus, each time you post I always pray that you post something relevant, something that will actually make sense, something people will actually want to read and comment on. I stopped, and look what happened, my prayers were answered. (speaking in tongues now) Hallelujah, I'macomininahondaleavininalexus.
